Cambridge Assessment Speaking Test Animation Series

Cambridge Assessment is an international exams group designing and delivering assessments to over 8 million learners in over 170 countries. As well as carrying out leading-edge academic and operational research on assessment in education, Cambridge Assessment operates and manages Cambridge University's three exam boards.

Hill Langdell were commissioned to create a series of animations for a project which focused on support for teachers conducting speaking tests for various IGCSE languages within schools. It formed part of a bigger project to provide end-to-end support for speaking tests, including preparation before the test and marking and administration after.

The final animation took the form of a presentation within a presentation, with an animated female character delivering an infographic animation to both the viewer and an audience. The use of a cartoon character enabled the viewer to connect with the narrator, whilst the infographic animation and on-screen signposting allowed the processes of the speaking test to be illustrated clearly.

"Geoff and his team came up with an elegant and engaging solution for this project, and managed to create a video which engages with the audience, and assists them in understanding and delivering speaking tests within the school environment."

David Harrison, Development Manager
